It’s been a while since I’ve laid sod. I was once a part of the UGA Turf Team and laid sod on many occasions for trials for turf chemical companies. As a homeowner – and employee at North Georgia Turf – I would like to think I know what I’m doing. The one thing that I do know is that TifBlair Centipede is really hard to kill and fairly easy to grow. It doesn’t like a lot of fertilizer and needs minimal water once established. Centipede is not fussy and royal – it’s actually just beautiful grass.
Our sod will be here at our new house in the morning at 7 o’clock. We are only getting two pallets and I really do hope it won’t take longer than a few hours to lay it. We have a total of four spots to till up tonight. Two spots in the front and two in the back, but all the areas are visible from the road. The fourth picture is actually Bermuda to the farthest right that I’m guessing came over from my neighbor’s yard. We’re replacing that area, too.
My husband, who works in the healthcare industry, is actually excited about doing this. He’s a handy man and enjoys working on the house and out in the yard. I have some before pictures and will also be taking some more pictures during the tilling stages and the laying stages. Check back for more of my “sod experience.”
